"This software has more than 250 conversion profiles that can optimize your DVD conversions for nearly any device you happen to own." —toptenreviews.com
"People who are not satisfied with the price of this software might resort to the free edition, however it has fewer features. ... This amazing DVD ripper earned a top spot in various best DVD rippers reviews online due to its amazing features such as easy to use interface." —dvd2dvd.org (March 8, 2017)
"DVD Ripper Pro is close to perfection. It takes a potentially complex task and makes it wonderfully quick and simple, while still offering incredible range of options and output formats." —Mark Wycislik-Wilson, techradar.com (September 11, 2017)Ok, first things first, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) forbids circumventing copy encryptions contained on commercial discs. The DMCA makes no exceptions for circumventing these encryptions for personal use. TA.O (thumbapps.org) does not endorse piracy or any other illegal activity.
DVD ripping software like this can be used for both legal and illegal purposes. WonderFox points out that DVD Ripper Pro can not only bypass DVD content scramble system (CSS) and region coding, but also remove a variety of protection techniques like Multi-angle, RCE, Sony ARccOS, UOP, Disney X-Project DRM and Cinavia Protection.
What you chose to do with the software is up to you. Just keep in mind the law that governs your activities where you are in the world.
Phew..., now, we all know that in this age of mobile, we tend to rip any movie DVD/BD disc so we can watch it on the road. Be it on our smartphone, tablet, or laptop (right-click → open image in a new tab, for bigger image).
And this is where WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro comes really handy. You can rip a feature-length movie in around 30 minutes to 1 hour (full version edition) with the default settings to a huge range of video and audio formats, including AVI, MP4, MKV, MPG, WMV, MOV, MTS, M4V, ASF, DVC, MTS, M2TS, WEBM, FLV, SWF, VOB, F4V, 3GP and 3GP2, or to HD video formats for better playback on a larger screen.
It sports an intuitive interface that you really don't need a manual to use it,
It has a lot of preset Output Profile for video, Web, audio, HD/4K, and a lot of gadgets including TV and others (right-click → open image in a new tab, for bigger image),
All in all, it's more than 250 conversion profiles you can choose from to do a 3 simple steps to rip: Load DVD (disc/ISO/folder) → choose Output Format → Run,
But the result of the default preset Smart Fit (480p) without Deinterlace option results in slight interlaces here and there—as appears here on the artist face,
You can fix it by ticking the Deinterlace option, and while at it we might as well try creating a 720p mp4,
And it really works,
The Pros
But the most interesting things we notice are these:- the image quality of 480p (left picture below) and 720p (right picture) looks good and indistinguishable by the naked eye to the original one (click picture for larger view).
- the video ISO we use is compressed from its original 217MB to 45.1MB (20%) for the 480p and amazingly only 44.1MB for the 720p!
- the time it took to make a 480p video is around 4 minutes, and 7 minutes for the 720p with deinterlace enabled.
As for a 8.5GB Blu-ray into 720p mp4, then it would take around 40 times longer—around 5 hours—and will get you around 2GB in size.
We use giveaway license, but with full version license the speed can be up to 50 times faster.
The pros on the Internet can compress a video to around 10% of its original size. So 20% is not too bad for amateur, considering you can do it without hassle! (Though we don't mind if in the future WonderFox can match that pro compression ratio :)
The Cons
The unregistered/freeware copy can only rip 15 minute run time,The giveaway license that we use for this review is not as fast as the full version—which can go up to 50 times faster,
