A Family of Pac-Man LED Pixel Panel Costumes

Instructables user pix3lot says his family is into doing themed costumes together, so for Halloween this year, they decided to dress as Pac-Man characters. They’d worked with LEDs for their 2016 Halloween ensembles, so it was an easy decision to do more costumes with electronic elements. After deciding to recreate Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Blinky, and Pinky, pix3lot planned the animation frames in Excel to determine the total number of LEDs needed — it added up to 628.

To keep the costumes easy to wear they chose lightweight materials for the build, including cardboard, a portable power supply, and an Arduino Uno R3. Each Pac-Man panel has different parts:

The panel is made up of a few main parts: the base, the slats, the cover, and the strap. The base holds the LEDs, the slate provide the pixels and overall stability of the panel, the cover diffuses the light, and the strap makes it portable.
