What is it about vintage footage of New York City that makes my mouth water? Is it the old cars? The ticking sound of the film reel? Or maybe it’s just because there was WAY less traffic back then… Either way, enjoy this video from YouTube user wdtvlive42 – Archive Footage. An early “dashcam” style archive footage film showing a trip through downtown Manhattan, New York City along 8th Avenue, 5th Avenue, and 50th Street. The first half of the film uses a forward looking camera, the remainder of the film shows the views from a rear facing camera. The scenes capture many classic and vintage cars from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s including many Ford and General Motors vehicles that were so common during this period, as well as the iconic Taxi Cabs of NYC.
