USB is not infected with the Malware of the Vietnam military is commercialized, 8GB version for 38$

After 6 years of research and development, secure USB drive information (VS-KEY) by the group creator electronic Institute (Institute of science and technology, military-Ministry of Defense of Vietnam) was officially sold to the market.

USB is known as a useful tool for storing and copying data, but on the other hand, it can also be used to spread malware from computers. Threatens to the safety and security of data in the USB itself, as well as other data in the computer using USB.

According to Bkav statistics, the number of computers infected in Vietnam in the third quarter of 2017 is still very high, up to 15 million. In particular, the main route of infection is via USB, accounting for more than 50%.

To solve this problem, a team of researchers from the Research Department of Electromagnetic Fields of the Institute of Electronics (Military Science and Technology Institute - Ministry of Defense Vietnam) has studied the manufacture of USB safe VS -KEY.

The technical specification of VS-KEY is that it is not infected with Malware when using USB to back up data between computers; prevent unauthorized access by stealing information from Spyware from USB to computer and vice versa; The program automatically encrypts data when stored from a computer to a USB safe and decodes automatically when copied from a secure USB to a computer, encrypting and decrypting data using the code algorithm. AES 256; Encrypted user passwords (SHA-2) and store them on USB, if the wrong password is entered 10 times, USB will be locked; USB management software with easy-to-use Vietnamese interface, allows running from virtual CDROM, no driver installation.

Inside a VS-KEY

This secure USB has an 8GB capacity and is similar to a conventional USB, using a metallic or plastic casing design, depending on the user's actual needs. VS-KEY is 60x20x8 mm and weighs 20g. USB is compatible with all Windows operating systems, using USB 2.0 / 3.0 interface, read speed 25 MB/s and write 10 MB/s.

Dr. Tran Xuan Kien, Head of USB Security project, said VS-KEY was refactored to protect data through both hardware and software solutions. Hardware is designed and manufactured in the country, self-made device driver and loaded into IC circuit, thus ensuring VS-KEY not installed and unauthorized data entry, including backdoor.

Explaining the principle of security of VS-KEY, Dr. Kien basically said that this USB flash is divided into three partitions: Partition 1 is structured into a virtual CD (read-only) containing management software. specialized; Partition 2 contains password security; and partition 3 has a non-standard format for storing data.

When you plug this USB into your computer, the Windows operating system will automatically get partition part 1 and automatically run the program manager. Before using to read / write data, you need to enter the user password, the software only allows to continue when the user password is correct, then the software will access to the area 2 contains security password to retrieve. The access key also identifies the filesystem stored in partition 3 in non-standard format, which is hidden in the operating system, in other words, the operating system can not access the data.

In recent years, USB data security products have been used experimentally in a number of units of the Navy Department, General Administration of Technology; General Department of Defense Industry; Communication ... ... The test shows that USB is stable operation, friendly interface, convenient for users, speed coding and decoding copy to ensure against the infection from Malware. and password-detecting software.

So far, the group has cooperated with TIC Computer Network and Computer Solution Joint Stock Company to commercialize VS-KEY products. Currently 1000 secure USB drives have been ordered through the TIC website, priced at 38$ . The author has the same distribution unit to receive feedback, feedback from users to improve the product, bring more utility for users.

Uses USB VS-KEY: Connect the USB to the computer, appear the virtual CDROM drive "VS-KEY (H :)". On this drive saves dedicated USB software and the .NET Framework 2.0 library. (For computers running Windows 7 or later, you do not need to install the .NET Framework.)

So, What do you think of a USB drive that can protect itself from malware without antivirus software?
