Vision Quest by Joanna Hir

It’s always exciting to see an update from Berlin-based ElektroCouture in my inbox, but this latest announcement about their designer Joanna Hir really has me excited. I always love the beauty of fashion tech, but I’ve been longing for more purpose and meaning. Well, this designer is certainly delivering with a collection that will use brain waves to trigger tech in the fashion. It’s called Vision Quest and according to Joanna it is themed around enlightenment. A headpiece will connect the user to the garment, triggering LEDs and EL wire to glint in different patterns. Check out this interview by Lisa Lang of ElektroCouture for the details.

The prototype headpiece is already functional and I can’t wait to see the connected fashion. The simple shirt allows the wave induced Obi to capture the eyes, leading them down to a visual graph of LEDs. There’s a lot to be excited about here, so be sure to check out ThePowerHouse for updates on ElektroCouture and other brands in the fashion tech world. I’m sending shoutouts to Lisa Lang and her great group of designers and technologists in Berlin. Keep raising that bar to the stars!
