Adafruit’s Top Ten 3D Printed Projects on Thingiverse of 2017 #AdafruitTopTen
2017 was a great year for 3D Printing at Adafruit. With the Ruiz Brothers leading the charge, we were able to create and share more projects than ever before. Here’s a look at our Top Ten 3D Printing Projects for 2017. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2018!
10) 7in Portable Raspberry Pi Multi-Touch Tablet
In this project, we’ll show you how to build a portable Raspberry Pi 2, using a 7″ touchscreen display, an Adafruit PowerBoost 1000c and a 2500mAh battery. Our 3D printed enclosure fits all of the components making an all-in-one, compact Raspberry Pi tablet.
9) Adafruit Fidget Spinner
A fidget spinner is a simple and basic handheld toy meant for mindless fidgeting. These toys are one of those “I don’t get it” things, until you play with one. Fidgeting is actually very helpful for people with ADD/ADHD and even anxiety, but you don’t have to have a disorder to appreciate them.
8) DIY Raspberry Pi Gameboy
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of that classic gaming device by building your own with 3D printing and DIY electronics from adafruit.
The 3D printed enclosure will house all the components and you can print it in your favorite color.
7) Raspberry Pi Zero Case
This is a simple enclosure for the Raspberry Pi Zero. It’s a two piece design that features cutouts for the GPIO, microUSB, mini HDMI and microSD card. The Raspberry Pi Zero PCB snap fits into the enclosure with no need for machine screws. The cover also has a snap fit. Designed by Noe Ruiz. Check out the tutorial on YouTube.
6) Talking D20
The 20-sided die — or “d20” as it’s known to tabletop gamers — is an icon of geek culture. In this project we’ll 3D-print a jumbo d20 and outfit it with electronics…because that’s how we roll at Adafruit.
5) Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Guardian Sword with NeoPixel LEDs
This is the Guardian Sword from Zelda, Breath of the Wild. It’s fully 3D Printed and has a ton of NeoPixel LEDs. This thing is super bright and looks so awesome!
4) PiGRRL 2 – Raspberry Pi Game Console
This project takes the original concept of the PiGRRL and makes it more powerful, using a Raspberry Pi 2 (or Model B+). It’s about the same size but features more buttons (D-Pad, A,B,X,Y, L, R, pause and start.) and four extra buttons on the PiTFT. It’s sporting a small audio amplifier and speaker, so you can enjoy the crispy sounds of 8-bit goodness.
3) OctoPrint Raspberry Pi Rig 3.5″ PiTFT Touch Display
This project adds a touch screen display directly to the Raspberry Pi. An Adafruit PiTFT can be used to display the graphical interface of OctoPrint. There is no soldering or laborious assembly required – it’s actually pretty easy!
2) PiGRRL Zero Raspberry Pi Zero Gameboy
The PiGRRL Zero case has been split into four pieces for printing on smaller beds! – Check the case-split.zip archive
You’ve seen PiGRRL, Super Game Pi, PiGRRL Pocket, PiGRRL 2 and now… it’s time for PiGRRL Zero!
1) ESP8266 WiFi Weather Station with Color TFT Display
In this project we’ll show you how to make a WiFi enabled, portable Weather Station using an ESP8266. The software, written by Daniel Eichhorn, uses the Wunderground API to pull weather data. It shows the date, time, current weather conditions, 4-day forecast and even moon phases. The user interface features lovely typography and icons that makes really a clean layout. The 2.4” TFT Feather Wing combined with the Adafruit Feather HUZZAH ESP8266 make assembling this project incredibly easy.
