Escape Review: Quest Factor, The Castle

Recently, I got to visit Quest Factor in Seattle and had an absolute blast. In the following post I'm going to cover some of my highlights, because I really loved the ambiance and theme of this escape room. We ran this room with the smallest team able top play, only 3 people (recommend for group sites 3- 8). But our team was the great in terms of complimentary skills. We had an expert abstract thinker, a seasoned game master, and your very own friendly neighborhood hacker. Sadly, we solved all the challenges just a little over an hour, but we all still felt really good about the game. This escape room had a ton of non-traditional logic puzzles, which I really enjoyed, such as reading elaborate stories and interpreting them as instructions on how to place and look at various objects around the room. I  also really enjoyed the relaxed hint atmosphere. It was as if Quest Factor really wanted people to succeed and solve all of the challenges. There was also an iPad in the room with all of the individual challenge write-ups, so while these were direct spoilers, the idea was really nice in case you got stuck and simply wanted to move past a challenge. I really like the how true to theme this escape room was. The aesthetic was amazing, with stone walls, medieval weapons, regal paintings, and even an hour glass tracking our time. The story and theme seemed to bring to life the classic telling of the Holy Grail and was steeped in Arthurian legend. All of the decorations were epic, staying true to the medieval theme, we even acquired swords and pieces of armor to wear throughout our hunt. If you get a chance, this a great escape room for a small group!
