About Lufkin Independent School District (Lufkin, Texas USA:

We are Lufkin! We are Panther proud and 8,300 students strong. We are a Class 6A school district in the Pineywoods of East Texas, where excellence is our standard.

Lufkin ISD came into being in 1905 when the first school was placed where the Pitser Garrison Convention Center stands today on Second Street in downtown Lufkin. Now, with 15 campuses stretching over 307.5 acres of land, we are the largest school district in Angelina County.

Our mission is to educate and equip all students for academic success through exceptional learning experiences. Some of those experiences extend across the globe and some down to the smallest molecule. With well-trained staff and outstanding teachers, we take students to the next level.

Our goal is to provide students with more than just a diploma but choices and opportunities. With our Early College High School, Advanced Placement Courses, Dual Credit and CTE Courses, our students are not only college-ready but have the opportunity to get a jump on college courses.

Our desire is to be good stewards of the taxpayers’ money, which funds a $61 million budget. Our board sets the policies and procedures that ensure a balanced budget and address the needs of community.
We are Lufkin … your best choice for education!

About Microsoft MakeCode:

Microsoft MakeCode brings computer science to life for all students with fun projects, immediate results, and both block and text editors for learners at different levels. An interactive simulator provides students with instant feedback on how their program is running, and allows them to debug their code. Students new to coding can start with colored blocks that they can drag and drop onto their workspace to construct their programs. When they are ready, students can move into a full-featured JavaScript editor with code snippets, tooltips, and error detection to help them.
