The IPKat is back with its overview of IP-related events, opportunities and materials to fill up your brand new 2018 calendar!
Starting with New Year’s resolutions, INTA (International Trademark Association) published its 2018-2021 Strategic Plan. INTA's role is “to serve its members and society as a trusted and influential advocate for the economic and social value of brands”. To fulfill its role, in the next four years, INTA will focus on: promoting the value of trademarks and brands; reinforcing consumer trust and embrace innovation and change. The Cyber Security Research Center (H-CSRC) - Cyber Law Programme at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Geneva, will organise a joint conference on “Cybersecurity Breaches and Private Law – Talking Stock and Looking Ahead”. The conference will take place on 17 January 2018 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. More information on the event can be found here and registration can be done through here.

Kat Neil will also lecture on 25 January 2018 at the UCL Engineering Front Building – Roberts 508 Theatre, on the topic: “Branding and Co-Branding: How Much Do They Really Contribute to Innovation?” More information on the event and on registration can be found here.
The prestigious Laidlaw Research and Leadership Programme scheme is open for applications! There are 25 fully-funded scholarships available for first year undergraduates in any discipline. Deadline for applications is 28 January 2018. More information on the programme can be found here and the list of research projects here (project #4 on Computers and Privacy could be particularly interesting to Kat readers).
The UCL Institute of Brand and Innovation (IBIL) will host, on 28 February 2018, a two-day course lawyers and company executives (obviously students are welcome as well) titled: Privacy online and offline: The citizen, the personal and the public interest.
