This Is the Best Dress for STEM Teachers #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #Arduino #STEM #DIY
Beautiful bands of fiber optics make this little black dress appropriate for a 90’s Versace show. This is the work of Debra (better known as Geek Mom Projects). The circular shape controlling all those colors on the dress is none other than Adafruit’s Circuit Playground microcontroller. Although I think this outfit is perfect for a parent-teacher conference or any STEM gathering, Debra actually created it for a costume party where it was a big hit. For people yearning for a simpler project, this mom is working on a fiber optic belt, so stay tuned. You can get similar geek inspiration from our learning guide on Circuit Playground and Fiber Optics. The Circuit Playground microcontroller (and its sister the Circuit Playground Express) are easy-to-learn boards with many built-in sensors and neopixels. The Express version even has the capability to do drag and drop MakeCode, so it’s great for those new to code. So, get inspired to create colorful wearables using the friendliest board ever! Don’t forget to send us a video of your finished project.
