I’m always on the lookout for a color sensing umbrella filled with cheerful LEDs and it appears I’ve found another on Make:. Katy Lee also wanted something to brighten rainy days and created her umbrella in similar fashion to my Florabrella using a Flora microcontroller and the matching Flora color sensor. LED umbrellas make a great safety device since they allow people to be more visible at night, and you can see Katy’s personal LED color patterns on the code posted on her Instructable. I know I’ll always love the rainbow pattern because it brings so many smiles! Congrats to Katie on a successful build and wishing her luck as she embarks on a Kickstarter with her Rainbo Skyz! Just remember that this project is open source and anyone can hack and add sensors to make it their own.
