How to Hack a Color Sensing Umbrella #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #Arduino #DIY
I’m always on the lookout for a color sensing umbrella filled with cheerful LEDs and it appears I’ve found another on Make:. Katy Lee also wanted something to brighten rainy days and created her umbrella in similar fashion to my Florabrella using a Flora microcontroller and the matching Flora color sensor. LED umbrellas make a great safety device since they allow people to be more visible at night, and you can see Katy’s personal LED color patterns on the code posted on her Instructable. I know I’ll always love the rainbow pattern because it brings so many smiles! Congrats to Katie on a successful build and wishing her luck as she embarks on a Kickstarter with her Rainbo Skyz! Just remember that this project is open source and anyone can hack and add sensors to make it their own. Get your start with our learning guide for the Florabrella, and you’ll be sure to have a bright day even when the sun isn’t shining.
