This Kit Hopes to Make Tech Easy for Performers #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #tech #art

WearKit for performing artists

A new nonprofit in France is working on a kit to make wearable tech easy for performing artists. WearKit is a system of modules that can be used by artists and designers to engage kinetic movement in an outfit or to collect body metrics to share with other modules. The system will be app based, allowing users to set parameters between modules easily without knowledge of coding.

The organization leads both have excellent qualifications for the work. Daniel Amaya is a circus artist with a background in mechatronics engineering while Stéphane Garti is an engineer in Human Computer Interaction. WearKit currently has a call out for performers and designers to participate in their second residency to explore technology and body. If selected, participants will receive a travel stipend and spend a few days @thecampprovence creating an outfit and performance which will be filmed. Not only will artists have a chance to give input on the design of some helpful tech, but WearKit will get some interesting work to showcase. Deadline to apply is Feb. 25th, so make your move!
