A Book Fair Where Visitors Collaborate with Cartoonists #ArtTuesday

via HYPERALLERGIC

This weekend, at an “interactive book fair” in Manhattan, visitors will have a chance to add their own art to one-of-a-kind books. And for those who can’t draw to save their lives, have no fear — more than a dozen artists will be on hand to help.

At FUNHOUSE Book Fair, co-organized by Desert Island bookstore at The Drawing Center in Soho, guests will collaborate with resident cartoonists such as Thu Tran, Gary Lieb, Laura Perez-Harris, and Joanna Fields, whose books will also be offered for sale. The weekend-long event seems to take at least as much inspiration from county fairs as from book fairs: you’ll be able to play games of chance and participate in giveaways, too.

Companion events will feature artist talks, a zine workshop, and, according to a press release, “additional spectacles, like life-size interactive cut-outs.” Perhaps inevitably, given the name, you will also find funhouse mirrors that help your selfies look even stranger than your hand-drawn art.
