Baltimore illustrator David Plunkert has lent his skills to the U.S. Postal Service, to design stamps honoring American innovation and science, technology, engineering and math — STEM — education.

Plunkert, the co-owner of Hampden’s Spur Design LLC and an adjunct at Maryland Institute College of Art, designed the STEM Education Commemorative Forever Stamps along with art director Antonio Alcalá, using androgynous faces with STEM elements to honor each field separately. The science-themed stamp features molecules; the technology stamp features circuits and software code; the engineering stamp includes an Apollo module; and the math stamp features math symbols and equations.
