The SD Card Formatter formats SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card and SDXC Memory Card (respectively SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards) complying with the SD File System Specification created by the SD Association (SDA).
   It is strongly recommended to use the SD Card Formatter to format SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards rather than using formatting tools provided with individual operating systems.
   In general, formatting tools provided with operating systems can format various storage media including SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards, but it may not be optimized for SD/SDHC/SDXC Cards and it may result in lower performance.

Administrator privilege.

DIY/Do It Yourself: Upgrade to the Latest Release

Requirements 7-Zip, VMware Workstation Player, NPP/Notepad++ or other text editor, PortableApps.com Launcher Generator/PAL, PortableApps.com Installer/PAI.

1. Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
2. Get the latest SD Memory Card Formatter for Windows release.
3. Install it on a Windows 7 (32 bit) VMware Workstation Player virtual machine and get the binaries from %PROGRAMFILES%\SDA\SD Card Formatter folder: format_sd.exe, SD Card Formatter.exe.
4. Put the files into SDCardFormatterPortable\App\SDCardFormatter folder.
5. Browse to SDCardFormatterPortable\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. 5.0.0.0 not just 5.0.0 nor 5.0,

   	[Version]
   	PackageVersion=5.0.0.0
   	DisplayVersion=5.0.0 (32/64 bit)
   

6. Run PAL, paste the template folder address C:\0TEST\SDCardFormatterPortable, and click Go—a new launcher will be created,
   
7. Test the new launchers by following this guide.
8. When all is OK, then delete the SDCardFormatterPortable\Data folder and run PAI, paste the package folder address C:\0TEST\SDCardFormatterPortable, and click Go—to create the installer package.
   
9. Use the installer package to upgrade your portable application. Don't forget to at least backup your Data folder before any upgrade :)
10. If you find any changes that's not handled by the launcher, consult the PAL help file to modify the launcher yourself or ask for our paid upgrade support.
