IGTV - Next Youtube !

Instagram is directly competing with Youtube with its new IGTV update. Today at a flashy event in San Francisco, the company announced it will begin allowing users to upload videos up to one hour in length, up from the previous one-minute limit and to house the new longer-form videos from content creators and the general public, Instagram is launching IGTV.

IGTV can be accessed from a button inside the Instagram home screen as well as a standalone app, IGTV will spotlight popular videos from Instagram celebrities.

How IGTV Works

Here's how IGTV works - IGTV will let anyone be a creator just like youtube and let them upload vertical videos through the Instagram app or the web. Everyone except smaller and new accounts will be able to upload hour-long videos. This feature works just like youtube. Users and content creators are asked to verify their account before uploading longer videos on youtube. IGTV app will be available globally on iOS and Android as well as in the Instagram app through a TV-shaped button near the airplane button which is used to send messages.

Instagram will Pay Creators

There are no advertisements in IGTV yet of now but as per the Instagram CEO Kevin, IGTV is a place where creators might make money since we (creators) invest a lot of time into creating videos for IGTV. He wants to make that sustainable by offering them a way to monetize in the future. This might be a good news for new creators looking around to make their way to youtube.
