TL;DR: format wars returning? Not likely.
But still, I thought we were past this – physical media for digital audio. (And that’s coming from me who still plays CDs – that I bought ~25 years ago – on my Onkyo receiver.) Alas, the CD is making a comeback (at least in Japan).
Kudos for the Dire Straits disc spotted in the thumbnail:
MQA-CD is a physical Hi-res music format, but while the discs are relatively affordable, playing them back can be anything but.
