A short film about the ALLO DigiOne Signature for Raspberry Pi #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

John Darko goes through the audio capabilities of the Raspberry Pi and goes through a couple Pi HATs.

Via Darko Audio:

Closing the Pi’s sound quality gap on the big boys are third-party manufacturers like France’s ALLO Digital whose terrific DigiOne HAT add-on directly connects to the Pi’s 40-Pin socket to pull digital audio upwards to output via S/PDIF with reduced amounts of jitter and/or electrical noise. Once landing on the newly installed upper deck, ALLO’s audiophile-sensitive circuitry can better nurse an easily disturbed digital signal.

Here we get a choice of coaxial or BNC. Both top out at 24bit/192kHz, no DSD. A non-issue for Music-First Audiophiles like yours truly whose favourite music is rarely released at anything higher than CD’s 16bit/44.1kHz. The DigiOne served as a sharp reminder that better streaming hardware can juice more from our DACs than pumPing up bit- and sample-rates and that such hardware doesn’t have to sell for megabucks.
