Deep Synth Handheld | Light and sound #adabox10 @adafruit @johnedgarpark
The Deep Synth, by Bob Miller is a synthesizer that plays the famous 30-oscillator THX Deep Note as an instrument. It runs on the 1Bitsy-1UP handheld, sporting an STM32F4 microcontroller.
…I’d been thinking about the Deep Note sound that has appeared at the beginning of a lot of Lucas/Pixar movies. I was wondering whether it would be possible to make a synth that could play melodies in that heroic voice. How playable would it be? How would it sound to go from hall full of buzzing bees to chord, back to buzzing, then to another note or chord? It might be epic. It might be awful. It might even be epically awful.
So I have a game console looking for an audio demo, and I have a synth idea looking for an implementation. Maybe… Could I? Should I?
