Libre Office 6.1.3 Released, Install on Ubuntu / Linux Mint System


LibreOffice is an open source productivity suite that provides all the necessary office components for small-business, educational and non-profit organizations. It is a fork of the well-known OpenOffice.org application.



A drop-in replacement for OpenOffice.org
LibreOffice’s story starts not so long ago, as a continuation of the work already implemented in the OpenOffice.org software. The initial release of LibreOffice was made available back in 2011. Since then, the project got a lot of attention from the open source community, many developers joined the team, and in only a couple of years it became the number one office suite for almost, if not all Linux distributions.

What's New:

The latest "fresh" version of LibreOffice, recommended for technology enthusiasts, which contains new features and program enhancements. This version may contain a few annoying bugs which will be fixed in the next bugfix versions to come. Detailed release notes can be accessed from the link below.

  • Use radio buttons widgets to clarify complex menu option intentions
  • Add option to enable saving of documents with non-visible changes
  • Added Quickstarter for Unix builds (enabled only in distro builds)
  • Fix synthetic small caps resizing factor to improve look and interoperability


How to Install (step by step) Libre Office 6.1.3 on Linux Mint / Ubuntu (16.04 - 18.04 - 18.10) Derivative system :

Download libre office 6.1.3 using terminal :
wget https://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/6.1.3/deb/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.1.3_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz



Extract :
sudo tar xvfz LibreOffice_6.1.3_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
cd LibreOffice_6.1.3.2_Linux_x86-64_deb/DEBS/




Install office 6.1.3 deb package :
sudo dpkg -i *.deb


After installation is finished, open libre office on ubuntu menu dashboard :
