Radio Spectrum Recordings: A short demonstration
Via Thomas Witherspoon on Youtube we have a demonstration video of radio spectrum recording.
In this video, we’ll demonstrate what a radio spectrum recording is and how it differs from legacy audio recordings of broadcasts. This particular recording was originally made using a HiFi VCR which recorded the IF from a communications receiver. Today, most spectrum recordings are made digitally using a software defined radio. This is one of the earliest spectrum recordings we’ve archived. The Software Defined Radio application used in this demo is HDSDR: http://www.hdsdr.de/
Early in the video you can hear a recording of Radio RSA – The Voice of South Africa from March 14, 1982.
