The LM383 Amplifier Integrated Circuit Story
Over on Ideas to Integrated Circuits, they talk about the LM383 amplifier chip’s history. The chip was discontinued in 2008.
But it is humorous when the TDA2002 is often referred to as a replacement for the LM383. As a matter of fact, the LM383 is really a reverse engineering of the TDA2002. Credit should be given to the design engineer Bruno Murari who was working for SGS at the time. He was the one who came up with
a way to do an automotive power amplifier using only five pins.
