The Raspberry Pi E-mail Notifier Using LEDs will teach you how to use the python imapclient library to check your inbox for unread messages. This guide makes use of Adafruit’s Pi Cobblers to directly drive a green LED when new mail arrives or to illuminate a red LED when no unread messages are in the MAILBOX.
