Shark Week: the gear behind “Testing if Sharks Can Smell a Drop of Blood” is by @idlehandsdev #SharkWeek #SharkWeek2019 #Feather #Adafruit
We blogged yesterday afternoon about Mark Rober and his YouTube video on Testing if Sharks Can Smell a Drop of Blood as part of Shark Week.
The test involved a set of radio-controlled pumps to simultaneously release liquids into the water to see if there was attraction to sharks. Just to expand on what we’ve added since then:
This hardware twas built by Sean Hodgins @idlehandsdev. He writes:
Yeah it was such a quick build (< 2 weeks from design to complete) it made sense to just stick a couple of (Adafruit) LoRa feathers in there with the motor driver! They worked flawlessly.
All the files and a manual are on Sean’s GitHub here. The receivers use an Adafruit Feather M0 RadioFruit board connected to an Adafruit Motor FeatherWing.
Sean has done a lot of interesting work – see his YouTube channel and Twitter for all kinds of builds (worth subscriptions/follows). A Makers’ bonanza.
