Apple Justifies iPhone's Battery Warning After Unauthorized Battery Replacements

Remember Apple sending out scary service notifications to iPhone users that essentially disabled battery health status after a third-party battery replacement is made? It was all an attempt to protect users, according to Apple.
The Cupertino giant has opened up to The Verge regarding why it has made such decisions to send out alarming notifications. It appears like the company does not want to take any chances risking the safety of its users. “We take the safety of our customers very seriously and want to make sure any battery replacement is done properly,” said an Apple spokesperson.
The whole statement given by Apple to The Verge explains the company’s point of view which is as follows: “Last year we introduced a new feature to notify customers if we were unable to verify that a new, genuine battery was installed by a certified technician following Apple repair processes. This information is there to help protect our customers from damaged, poor quality, or used batteries which can lead to safety or performance issues. This notification does not impact the customer’s ability to use the phone after an unauthorized repair.”
From the statement, it is clear that Apple has a valid point here. The company wants to make iPhone users aware of the possible after-effects of getting a battery replacement done from a third-party just because the Apple Store is a bit far away from the user’s residence.
Apple also emphasized on its expanded service providers list that will make official repairs more accessible. “There are now over 1,800 Apple authorized service providers across the US so our customers have even more convenient access to quality repairs.”, stated Apple.
This move, however, has disappointed a lot of trustworthy services that make efficient battery replacements and has put their business at stake. So, are you convinced by Apple’s justification or do you think this is just a trick put forth by the brand to get more control over its customer service? Tell us in the comments.
