OnePlus may be gearing up to launch its first-ever television lineup in just over a month from now. According to tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24), the company is all set to unveil its first-gen TV lineup in the last week on September, with September 26th said to be the ‘likely’ launch date. At least some of the devices in the lineup may sport an OLED screen, although there’s no info about the rest of their hardware at this point in time.
OnePlus is well-known for its smartphones, but the company last year announced that it plans to add smart televisions to its product portfolio going forward. While much of the details remain under the wraps for now, recent listings on the Bluetooth SIG website revealed that the upcoming OnePlus TVs will likely ship with Android and support Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity. The listing also revealed that they might feature screens ranging from 43-inches to 75-inches in size.
The last two digits (IN, CN and US) of the model numbers listed on the Bluetooth SIG site further suggested that the devices will be initially launched in India, China and the US before possibly making their way to other global markets at a later date. Apart from that, however, there’s very little info available about the devices in terms of either their hardware specs and software features, but we’ll hopefully get more details sooner rather than later.
The OnePlus TV was announced last September by the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, who subsequently confirmed the company’s plans to bring the devices to India. In an interview to the Economic Times last December, Lau said: “India will be one of the first markets to get the OnePlus TV. It will be available through Amazon. We haven’t set a deadline as yet, as we want it to be the best there is”.
