Worldwide smartphone shipments decline 2.3% YoY in Q2 2019; Samsung and HUAWEI post annual growth: IDC
In May 2019, International Data Corporation(IDC) published a report regarding the worldwide smartphone shipments in Q1 2019 and HUAWEI posted 50.3% growth while Apple shipments were down 30.2%. Similarly, IDC has published new reports and it shows that worldwide smartphone shipments have declined 2.3% YoY in Q2 2019. According to the report, a total of 332.2 million phones were shipped in Q2 2019, which was up 6.5% over the last quarter. The sharpest quarterly declines were seen across China and the United States markets and the shipments in Asia/Pacific were up more than 3% in the quarter. Samsung still maintains top position 75.5 million shipments and has increased by 5.5% YoY from 71.5 million in Q2 2018. HUAWEI is in the second position with 58.7 million shipments and an increase of 8.3% YoY from 54.2 million in Q2 2018. While Apple is in the third spot, the shipments declined 18.2% YoY with 33.8 million in Q2 2019. It is followed by Xiaomi, OPPO and other brands with Xiaomi shipments down 0.2% YoY with 32.2 million shipments. OPPO has posted a 0.3% increase YoY with 29.5 million shipments in 2019.
