The Apple Watch Series 5 will go on sale September 27 in India after being made available in the US and a number of other markets a week earlier, on September 20. Pricing will start at Rs. 40,900 for the 40mm Aluminum Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS), while the same device with the Cellular (4G) option will cost a hefty Rs. 49,900. The most expensive option for Indians would be the 44mm Stainless Steel option (GPS + Cellular) that has been priced at an insane Rs. 69,900.
As is the case with Apple every year, the pricing of all the models are at a significant premium to their US prices, where the cheapest model comes with a $399 (around Rs. 28,000) price-tag. Either way, Apple has also reduced prices of the Series 3 models, which now start at Rs. 20,900 in India for the the 38mm Aluminum model with GPS connectivity.
Do note that all the Series 5 models are not making their way to India, with one of the casualties being the new Hermes edition Apple Watch Series 5. The company is also giving the Titanium option a miss in India, with no word on whether it might be offered in the future.
Just as a refresher, Apple earlier this week unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 5 with a bunch of improvements over last year’s models. One of the biggest changes in the Series 5 is the addition of a new Always-on Display that the company says uses a new low-power display driver, a new ambient light sensor and what the company claims is the only LTPO display with dynamic refresh rates.
