Escape Review: ETA, Room 25 Live
I recently got to play Room 25 Live, by ETA. I highly recommend Epic Team Adventures, aka ETA, for their holistic experience. The staff was very engaging and they even let us do a walk-in game, without prior registration. It was also reasonably priced for a small group, we did this room with only two people for $30 each, where as other games may require renting the entire room. This game also has multiple play styles, we could have started with someone locked in a smaller cell, or someone can play a traitor amongst the group, depending how large the group is. This escape game had multiple rooms, with non-linear puzzles and red hearings scattered throughout the rooms. There wasn't as much hidden stuff, but there were things that were "hidden in plain sight". The theme was really well done throughout the game, and the clues were subtly placed around the room as if they were part of the decor. The game had a really neat concept to win, where you had to gather a bunch of trap disarmament codes, while also progressing through the rooms in parallel. Once you got access to Room 25, the remaining time dropped down to five minutes and you had to enter five pre-acquired trap codes. Unfortunately, we had triggered the room 25 entrance too early, thus triggering the five minute count down, before having gathered all of the trap codes. We did make it through three of the traps during the five minutes, but ended up dying to a saw blade trap (which we had the code for, but not enough time to enter it). All that said, I always have a blast playing these games, and this one was no exception. It was an excellent puzzle game, and very challenging for just two people. I also read other reviews like this before picking an escape game, to reduce the odds of picking a bad one.
