Google One, the subscription service offered by the software giant Google for consumers craving extra storage space, has added yet another intuitive feature – automatic phone backups. Yes, you will now be able to automatically backup almost every media content present in your phone in original quality.

“With Google One, you already get more storage for your photos, videos and documents—giving you the peace of mind that your memories and important files are stored in the cloud. Now with automatic phone backup, we’re taking another step in helping you keep the stuff you care about safe.”, wrote Google in a blog post.

The automatic phone backup feature will be initially available for Android devices and may extend to iOS devices as well. This feature will be extremely helpful in cases where you accidentally break your smartphone or your phone gets stolen. We all have been there and it hurts to lose all the precious memories gathered in phones, to be honest. Take a look at the below GIF to see how the feature works.

You might be wondering how this feature stands out when compared to the standard Android backup that includes texts, contacts, and apps. Well, with the automatic phone backup offered by Google One, you will be able to backup photos, videos, MMS in original quality.

All your backups can be managed from the Google One app. This way, you can pick up right where you left off when you upgrade your Android smartphone. Google One subscription starts at Rs.130 per month offering 100 GB of storage and goes up to Rs.19,500 per month for 30 TB of storage. You can also pre-pay on an annual basis at a reduced price.
