With true wireless earbuds becoming widely accepted and adopted as a lifestyle accessory to attain wireless freedom, it was just a matter of time before wireless headphones became a thing. Well, the time has come and we are looking at the world’s first true wireless over the ear headphones made by a Seattle based startup named Human, Inc.

In terms of design, I honestly have mixed feelings about this. While the design for sure looks futuristic, it feels weird looking at this design after being accustomed to traditional headphone designs and I’m not entirely sure if I would be wearing one of these outdoors.

The company has packed in a 280mAh battery in these headphones that will give you 9 hours of playback time. It comes with Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and weighs about 46 grams. There are 30mm dual dynamic drivers in these headphones. The company claims that four speakers combine to create a 2.2 sound system experience.

Apart from being wireless headphones that you can listen to music on, Human headphones can translate up to 11 languages in real-time when it is on Translate mode. Pretty cool, right? It also doubles up as a portable Bluetooth speaker and has a speaker mode for facilitating group translation. You also get touch gesture controls for performing tasks like playing, pausing, changing tracks, and triggering virtual assistants.

If you want to be aware of your surroundings, you can enable ambient sound by turning on “Blend mode” in the Human Headphones app. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

“We built this to be a headphone that really adapts to your daily life in a way that no other headphones do, from your morning commute, to when you’re at work in open office environments, to when you go to the gym, to when you go home and you stream on Netflix or HBO,” said Ben Willis, co-founder of Human.

Innovative products always take a lot of research and development to attain a level of perfection and these pair of headphones are no exception. Investing a lot on R&D directly reflects on the price which made the brand sell these pair of futuristic headphones for a whopping $399. However, the headphones can now be purchased for a special introductory price of $259.

So, will you consider buying these headphones? Let us know in the comments.
