Workshop ‘The new Copyright Directive: what opportunities for cultural heritage institutions?’ 


The Center for Intellectual Property Policy and Management, Bournemouth University, will host the workshop, the key theme of which is Article 8 of the newly adopted DSM Directive concerning the use of out-of-commerce works on a large scale. It addresses the opportunities and challenges of the implementation of this Article. The workshop is free to attend, but spaces are limited. Registration is required. 

This workshop will take place in EB206, Executive Business Centre, Bournemouth, UK on 20 September 2019 from 10:00 to 13:30.More information can be found here

What can I do?
CREATe Symposium 2019 

CREATe will host a symposium in Glasgow, which will explore some of the intellectual themes that link the centre's recently funded projects. The symposium will also include a BLACA lecture by CREATe's Elena Cooper on Portrait of Lady Eden by Whistler, and a policy keynote by Catherine Stihler, CEO of the Open Knowledge Foundation. All the events in this Symposium are free of charge.

Miscellany 

IPOS signed a tripartite MOU 

Intellectual Property Office of Singapore has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) and Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Justice. With the signing of the MOU, IPOS will cooperate, partner and advise AFSA as they establish an IP and innovation service centre within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). IPOS will also partner and advise them as they develop their IP and innovation eco-system, including exploring the provision of IP management consultancy services and training programs.

4iP Council's database of national FRAND case-law 

The 4iP Council just added its 50th case law on FRAND into its database of national FRAND caselaw. This database regularly updated allows easy access to summaries of FRAND caselaw in Europe. You can search for cases by country, party, case number and keywords and there is even an interactive graphic showing how national courts are interpreting keywords.
