Data Centers get New Consolidation Box Solution
The Indian data center market is projected to touch $1.1 billion by 2015. This creates a huge requirement for cabling solutions. To satisfy this need, Swiss cabling specialist R&M has developed a new subfloor cabling solution for data centers. The R&M Floor / Consolidation Box solution serves as an intermediate distributor in double floors in zone distribution and storage areas. It reduces patch panels in the racks or cabinets, freeing up space there for active components.
R&M markets 19" patch panels from its own range of data center products for configuration. Up to six patch panels can be incorporated in the raised floor solution. R&M has planning aids to help cabling projects run more smoothly and pre-terminates factory-inspected assembly kits that are delivered just in time.
Gaurav Ahluwalia, Managing Director, R&M India, says, "The new floor / consolidation box solution is developed keeping in mind the requirement of new-age data centers. This platform enables increased productivity of the data center. The significance of this platform is that the surface area of the data center need not be increased."
The R&M Floor / Consolidation box solution consists of a steel box that is inserted seamlessly into the 600 x 600 millimetre grid of raised floors. It is fastened to supports in the raised floor and connected to cable runs in a quick installation procedure. For example, each distributor cabinet or row of cabinets can be assigned one box. The subfloor design meets the requirements in international standards for structured cabling in data centers: TIA 942, IEC 24764 and EN 50173-5.
