Farewell to Adobe Reader for Linux
Farewell to Adobe Reader for Linux
Two years since the last update, Adobe has decided to say goodbye to the native Linux version of Reader.Adobe Reader in Ubuntu
Adobe and Linux there has never been some feeling, the American company has always snubbed the free operating system with many difficulties releasing various versions of Flash, Air and Reader. After finishing the development of Flash Player and AIR, Adobe Reader also no longer be supported, the Linux version of the famous software owner was recently removed from the list of supported operating systems. Adobe Reader for Linux will then be available in the current version 9.5.5 released in May 2013 and only available in the version for 32-bit systems.
Adobe Reader for Linux has never been taken into account by users since the repostiory officers of the major distributions are numerous PDF documents reader to be able to provide more functionality and reliability as well as being very often open source and non-proprietary.
For users who still want to install Adobe Reader on Linux, simply download the package deb / rpm or precompiled binary from this page.
For users who install Adobe Reader in Debian, Ubuntu and 64-bit packages should install some 32-bit otherwise we can not successfully start the software owner. Before or after installing the deb package of Adobe Reader we will have to type in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386 libnss3-1d:i386 libnspr4-0d:i386 lib32nss-mdns* libxml2:i386 libxslt1.1:i386 libstdc++6:i386and confirm the installation.
I thank our reader Richard for the tips.
