Privacy Indicator is a notification area applet (application indicator) for the top panel of Ubuntu’s Unity desktop environment.The goal of Privacy Indicator is to make it easy it change settings that influence the user’s privacy or the automatic collection of data and to delete automatically collected data.
Status
Privacy Indicator is alpha software. So far it seems to work for me and a lot of other users but it may have severe bugs I didn’t noticed yet. Use it at your own risk.If you found a bug or have an idea for other settings Privacy Indicator should support please file a bug report
Requirements
Privacy Indicator needs the “Unity” desktop environment that is used as the default desktop for Ubuntu.All software packages needed by Privacy Indicator are installed by default on Ubuntu.
Privacy Indicator is developed and tested with Ubuntu 14.04 “Trusty Tahr”. With older version of Ubuntu it may not be (fully) usable.
To Install Privacy Indicator 0.0.4 in Linux Ubuntu (12.04, 12.10, 13.04, 13.10, 14.0, 14.10), mint (14,15,16,17) using ppa's, open a new Terminal window and bash (get it?) in the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testingHome Privacy Indicator
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indicator-privacy
