This Amazing Animated Film Reminds Us To Stop Wanting To Have Everything In Control, But Be Present

Going to work every day, some of us are so obsessed with punching the clock that it becomes the focus of our lives. Getting rid of that obsession might just be the thing that saves us.

Destiny, a thought-provoking short animated film with over 2 million views on Youtube, follows its central protagonist’s nightmarish, Grounhog Day-like ordeal, but with a twist. He wakes up, looks at his (several) clocks, and is so fixated by leaving on time that he doesn’t look when crossing the road and the worst happens. Destiny allows its central character the luxury of redemption though and the chance to figure out where he went wrong.

It’s a revelation that so many people learn too late, but it’s one that’s expertly told as the short film is neatly wrapped up with a parting message; live in the present. Obsessing over time is just another way of not making the most of it.
