CPTC at DEFCON 27!
Hey everyone, if you haven't heard the good news, there will be two talks about the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) this year at DEF CON! Tom Kopcheck and I will be giving two talks on the goals, creation, and lessons learned around CPTC over the last 4 years. I'm really excited for these talks because it highlights what makes this competition so unique compared to traditional CTFs. The talks are on different days in different locations, giving people plenty of opportunity to make it to either event. Each talk will have unique content, but the core themes will be in both talks, so you really only have to make it to one. We also have some really big announcements planned so you won't want to miss the talk if you plan on competing in CPTC this year (although we will do a followup announcement online).
Friday August 9th at 10am
Bally's Tower of Doom, 26th floor
At The Packet Hacking Village
and
Saturday August 10th at 4pm
Flamingo, Reno II rooms
At The Ethics Village
The second talk on Saturday will be two hours long, with the first hour dedicated to the talk and the second hour focusing on a panel discussion. We will have Lucas Moris and Jason Ross joining us for the panel, two deeply experienced penetration testers and consultants. We plan to cover several scenarios as a group, talking about different ethical challenges we've encountered while running the competition. As a group, we've discussed these issues in depth during the competitions but this will be the first time we've discussed many of them publicly. I'm really looking forward to the ethics panel so make sure you check that out on Saturday.
